This is a highly contagious viral disease that causes fatal encephalitis in people and animals
Indiana Law 345 IAC 1-5-2 Section 2: All dogs, cats, and ferrets three (3) months of age and older must be vaccinated against Rabies
Initial vaccine , then annual or 3-year booster
DAPP (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus)

Protects against 4 highly contagious and potentially fatal viral diseases: Distemper (a viral illness affecting the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems), Adenovirus (causes hepatitis and respiratory issues), Parainfluenza (a respiratory virus contributing to kennel cough), and Parvovirus (a highly contagious virus causing severe vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration).
Initial vaccine and one booster in 3-4 weeks (additional booster recommended for puppies), then annual booster
Leptospirosis

This is a bacterial disease spread by the urine of wildlife and often contracted by drinking from contaminated bodies of water or puddles. Recommended for ALL dogs and puppies 12 weeks of age and older, especially those who live in rural areas, go camping or hiking or live and play in areas frequently visited by wildlife or in a neighborhood constructed on an area that formerly fit this description. This is a Zoonotic disease, which is contagious to humans.

Risk-Based (Lifestyle) Vaccinations
Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
Recommended for:
Contact with other dogs; Required by most boarding facilities
A highly contagious respiratory infection, bordetella bronchiseptica spreads through airborne droplets, direct contact with infected dogs, or contaminated surfaces. It is common in places like kennels or dog parks and causes coughing, sneezing, and nasal discharge.

Lyme Disease
Recommended for:
Tick Exposure
This is a bacterial disease transmitted by the bite of an infected tick. Recommended for dogs and puppies older than 12 weeks which live, work, or play in areas where they are at high risk for exposure to ticks. Examples: camping, hiking, hunting, or living in rural, wooded, or grassy areas.

Canine Influenza Virus (CIV)
Recommended for:
Contact with other dogs; Required by most boarding facilities
This is a highly contagious virus that causes respiratory illness in dogs. Recommended for all dogs and puppies 12 weeks of age or older who have any contact with other dogs or visit facilities where other dogs frequent. Examples being boarding kennels, dog parks, puppy classes, or even the pet store. At JVC, our vaccine protects against both known strains of dog flu, H3N2 & H3N8.
